I'm no expert, I'm just a mom who has lived through some life-changing experiences. I have no additional letters behind my name and I'm not a therapist, attorney, magistrate or doctor. These experiences are mine alone and do not represent the opinions of others. I'm a big believer in supporting organizations that support these causes, and I believe in life-long learning and self improvement. If you want to learn more, I'm including some sites to explore below.
Happy Reading from the Experts!
The National Organization for Mental Illness is the leading organization in the US supporting those with mental health issues. Nearly one in five Americans suffer from a mental health disorder. This site does a great job sharing reading material and even offers classes for family members who struggle to help those they love. Lots of opportunity to volunteer and donate to a great cause!
Beech Acres Parenting Center is a local organization providing support for parents navigating the parenting journey. The organization offers divorce classes and resources, and my dear friend Kerry Brown is a parenting coach who has certainly lent her services a time or 20! I highly recommend parenting coaching. It takes a village. :)
I found this woman's story to be very relatable. She survived post-divorce narcissistic abuse, years in the family court system, and has written several books on the subject. She's a great resource for understanding the difficulties of co-parenting and the emotional and financial ramifications.
My dear friend Meghan Remington is a certified divorce coach who has expertise in high-conflict divorce cases. She's been a resource for me and I highly recommend leveraging her services if you find yourself in a similar predicament.
Women Helping Women is an incredible local organization helping women in cases of rape or domestic violence. Year's ago I visited a crisis center in Kentucky after my own sexual assault experience, and they were incredibly supportive, knowledgeable and kind. I encourage you to support this organization if you can!
